good morning

may the Lord bless you and keep you in this day of ashes.  may He remind you of what you are and what you are made to be.  may He shine upon you in your need.  may He warn you of the stone, lest you bust your toes.  may He comfort you when you do.

may the Lord bless you and keep you.  may He let you see as He sees.  may He show the needs in you and the needs around you.  that which you might affect, and that which you cannot hope to affect.  both are holy moments, when we might be moved to see a Savior that is intimate with us and with others.  let all these things lead you to a deepening reality of the need for prayer; the crying out to a King who cares and longs to bring blessing...

but we need lent.  we need to need.  we must be in a place to recognize the things that God desires for us in opposition to the things that act as anesthesia.  we need lent.  not to feel good that we've given up chocolate or whatever.  lent is not a weight loss program.  may you not lose an ounce of physical weight, but may the deprivation of comforts and distractions pull the veil from your eyes and give you a heavenly, Spirit-filled perfection.

God grant us the blessing to change.  tune us to hear, give us words to sing, and spaces in which to sing them, seal us for Your courts above.  we long to know You and be known by You.

may you have a blessed lent, which will lead to a glorious day of resurrection.

check back...i'll be posting prayers and thoughts that will hopefully encourage us all.

grace and peace,
matt
